“Boon” was the stud that I bought in 1982 as the foundation of my breeding program in 1982. He was a grandson of the great cutting horse sire BOON BAR on the top side and GOLD SEEKER BUD The only supreme champion sire out of a supreme champion sire (GOLD SEEKER BARS) on the bottom side. Due to some injuries as a 3 year old Boon was never campaigned in a professional aspect but I did drag him around with me throughout my years of traveling from ranch to ranch, and many other areas. Thru out his years he was used on all aspects of the ranches that I worked on including running with the remuda’s on several of the large ranches, including the YP ranch in Nevada.

He was shown in many little shows in different areas along the way including taking 3rd place at the Sweetwater county fair ranch cutting in 1998, at the age of 18.

Along with ranch work this stud was broke to drive and used to pull stagecoaches in 4 horse hitches along with being used as the stable horse to help break many other horses to drive.

With such a good solid disposition he was able to be used in many movies, commercials, and still shoots where a good solid gentle horse was needed for actors or extra’s to ride.

I was using him up to his 25th year to snub colts to while breaking. He was put down at the age of 26 due to heart failure. There have been several of his colts that have lived to be over 20 years old.

Boon passed this good disposition and versatility into his sons and daughters, with one winning year end awards in the Southern Arizona Barrel Racing Association (SABRA).

BOONS SMOKEY GOLD was All Around runner up high point amateur at WY. Fair circuit, and Rocky

Mountain Quarter Horse Ass. 2002 Champion Healing horse, year end.
